This image comes from a 12 shot pano taken with the Nikon D800 and Nikkor 14-24mm lens.
During breakfast, at a local diner in Blanca Colorado, earlier this morning, the waitress told us that it hit -44 degrees Fahrenheit for a week straight a few weeks before we arrived.
The night before, while driving into the valley where the dunes are located, we watched the temp drop from 11 degrees to -25 degrees in less than 15 miles!
From a 10,000 mile photography road trip through the United States.
